A Letter from the Executive Director

Today I would like to recognize one of the many amazing Leaders who help keep the wheels at Marion Senior Services turning. Last month, Glenda Thomas, Nutrition & Outreach Director graduated from Grace Christian University with a Bachelor’s degree in Leadership & Ministry, with honors!  This is Glenda’s second degree that she has obtained while being employed by MSS. Her first degree was an Associate’s degree in Human Services, also graduating with honors.

Glenda is a wonderful leader within this agency, and a senior herself. She practices what she preaches to our clients as it relates to nutrition, wellness, and staying active; all while advocating for all to be a lifelong learner. Receiving a Bachelor’s degree is a great accomplishment for anyone to achieve, but especially for a senior. She is a true testament to continuing to invest in yourself, despite your age. She will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership in 2025. We are so proud to have individuals such as Glenda representing Marion Senior Services, those who continue to work on their personal and professional growth.

Learning should be a lifelong journey, and with so many digital resources available, it’s more accessible than ever. No matter what your interests, skills, or ability levels are, it’s safe to say that there’s something for you. At Marion Senior Services, we believe that everyone, regardless of age or ability level, should be able to expand their horizons and learn new skills. We don’t just meet seniors’ basic care needs — we strive to help every senior achieve the best quality of life possible.

Thank you to Glenda for being a shining example to those within the agency, and those who we serve.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Martinez, Executive Director
