Letter from the Executive Director
I believe humans are designed to thrive when helping others. It goes beyond just lending a helping hand; it promotes a sense of belonging and unity. Volunteering cultivates empathy, compassion, and a deeper understanding of diverse communities. Each year, the agency participates in National Volunteer Appreciation Week, and this year is no exception. Marion Senior Services is honored to work with hundreds of volunteers on an annual basis to promote the independence and well-being of our greater generations. We also recognize, support, and promote this dedication of any individual who sacrificed their time supporting any other organization. In my opinion, it’s the secret to life and our “Fountain of Youth.”
April blossoms into May, and the celebration continues with Older Americans Month. This year the theme is Powered by Connection. Because social connection is such an integral part of human behavior, it brings us joy, fulfillment, and a sense of belonging. It makes sense that our relationships (or lack thereof) significantly influence our well-being. Connections can be just as important to physical and mental health as exercise and healthy eating. That is why our agency is so passionate about our work and the value of volunteering. Please join us in celebrating this month and sharing stories of connectivity!
