Letter from the Executive Director
As we begin a new month, I want to start by expressing love and support to our neighboring communities affected by Hurricane Helene. This catastrophic event will have a lasting impact on our coastal communities for years to come. We are grateful that Marion County was spared any significant damage, but seeing the widespread damage done across our beautiful state is devastating.
As always, I want to thank my team for their swift and strategic response to this event. They worked tirelessly to ensure that our seniors were safe and cared for before a storm of this magnitude made landfall, prioritizing others before themselves. I am grateful for such a dedicated team!
On a happier note, I am so excited to share that this year’s Give4Marion was a HUGE success. Marion Senior Services exceeded our goal of $20,000, raising $24,201! We are blessed to have such a generous, supportive, and loving community. Overall, our community raised over 3 MILLION DOLLARS for non-profits across the county. This type of support will change lives throughout our community.
We are truly blessed to have such an amazing community here in Marion County. During times like these, we as a community must wrap our arms around our surrounding communities and spread our love and support to those in need. Please consider volunteering to help with clean-up or Monetary contributions can be made to the United Way of Florida Disaster Fund.
Sincerely,
Executive Director, Jennifer Martinez
